5 Fun Activities to do With Your Dog Recommended by our San Jose Veterinarian
You take your dog for walks on a regular basis. However, just like you, animals enjoy a variety of activities in order to stay stimulated. The following are five fun activities Bloom Plaza Animal Hospital recommends that you and your dog will both enjoy:
1. Go on a Hike
Pack plenty of water, treats, and supplies and take your four-legged friend to a nearby hiking trail. The added stimuli of a dirt path, hilly terrain and plenty of greenery is sure to invigorate both of you.
2. Play Fetch at the Beach
Bring a stick, Frisbee or ball to the beach and let your dog frolic in the waves, sand, and surf. Whether you go to a lake or the ocean, dogs love playing in the water. Most dogs also love to fetch, and you’ll have a blast, too.
3. Go to an Agility Course
Many dog parks have an agility course that allows your dog to exercise and do more than just walk or run. Your dog will get to socialize with other dogs and stay active while honing their memory and cognitive abilities.
4. Take Them on Vacation
A vacation that involves camping or staying in a cabin in the woods can be a great time for your pet, too. Most dogs love new adventures, and the opportunity to run and play in the woods will keep them happy and engaged throughout the trip.
5. Visit a Senior Center
While not as active as the other ideas on this list, this is a wonderful way to socialize your dog with other people while also brightening the day for seniors in your local area.
There’s so much more you can do with your dog than just take them for walks. Be creative to keep both you and your furry friend engaged and enjoying life.
